Dare to Dream – It’s the Season

The nights are beginning to cool

and the kids are off to school…

The leaves are falling and the geese are calling…

Seriously, geese fly 20 feet above my house as they flap their way towards the Willamette River. They’re beautiful in flight, and their honking and calling makes them so personable. I love them!

Fall is my favorite season! Why? It’s refreshing to watch leaves silently drift from the trees in every imaginable color and shape, as they make crispy crunchy noises underfoot. Leaves are vibrant on the trees and off. They are a reminder of the rhythm and purpose of life, and the reasons for different seasons. True for nature, true for us. No one can match God’s perfect timing!

I know that leaves are still a pain to rake. Even so, autumn does represent excitement and fresh new starts. Think back, for me and maybe for you, it reminds us of school, new friends, sports, activities and hobbies. Do you agree? This doesn’t change as we grow older. Fall is more organized, and a time of gathering together. It makes us think of growing up and letting go, from kindergarten to college. A reality for when we were kids (and as young adults), and for us now if we are parents!

Fall seems to be a more predictable and manageable season. Summer is fantastic, but schedules and sanity return in the fall and it feels good. We’re ready for football games, fires on the beach, and hikes with trees ablaze with color, nourished from intermittent sun and rain showers. Cool, fresh air invigorates us on walks, as it refreshes and energizes.

Whatever your season in life, my prayer for you is that you can anticipate and be hopeful for fresh new starts, right now! Increase security and confidence, as you enjoy activities that inspire and rejuvenate. As you enter this autumn season allow time with God, a trusted partner. Join me in seeking his guidance in creating fresh starts and optimism about the coming months. Be real, be you, and be all you want to be!

My friend, Tonya Osborn

We could not resist playing in the leaves on a trip to Victoria, BC.

How can you be real, be you, and be all you want to be?
REFLECT: God’s Grace is new every day: Reflect about how life experiences help shape, define, and refine character strengths. Invite God to show you how a weakness has, or can, become your greatest strength. “The Lord is my strength and my song…” Exodus 15:2

RELEASE: Every day is an original day; step up and trust God. Don’t ask “Why me?” Be intentional today. List your passions and strengths. Then ask, “What’s next, Lord?” Remember, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Heb. 11

REALIZE: Today is absolutely the only day and time you can live in. Not yesterday and not tomorrow. Look at your list of passions and strengths. What is your passion, and what would you like to start? Begin today. Do it for you. Spend at least 30 minutes a day in your imagination and passion towards your dream. Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.”

REWARD: Please slow down, so you don’t miss the small blessings each day brings. God is ever-present, and always faithful. In his time and in his ways, miraculous blessings, beyond what you could ever have imagined are your greatest reward.

While the leaves are falling and the geese are calling, remember…

God shows his love and delight, bright and bold in nature for man, guiding us to realize new beginnings of joy, potential, and blessings—like only He can!

Prayerfully growing by God’s grace, his truth, and perfect timing,
